Aim: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to read, listen to and understand a short story. Teaching aids: student book (page 38), flash cards, posters. B. Content I. Warm - up Play a game: Back to the board II. Review 1. Read and listen to story. Tell Ss that they are going to read and listen to the story. Before they listen, ask them to look at the pictures and ask them some questions to remind them of the characters. Ask them to read the story in slience. Then play the recording for Ss to listen and follow in their books. 2. Answer the questions. Tell Ss that they are going to read the story again and answer the questions. Give them a few seconds to read the text and check comprehension. Give them the time to do the task. Ask them to swap and check their answers before checking as a class Keys: 1. They went to the beach. 2. Yes, they did. 3. He went on holiday with Maurice and Doris. 4. They went to the mountains. 5. No, they didn’t. Because it was cold and it rained all the time. 3. Call some pairs to act out aloud the dialogue. 6. Read and match. Tell Ss that they are going to read the sentences on the left and pair them with those on the right by drawing a line between them. Check understanding. Give them time to do the task indepently. Get Ss to swap their answers before checking as a class. Provide explanation, if necessary. Have a few pairs act out the dialogues.
